Start of migration

Starting Tuesday, March 29, UITS, in partnership with the School of Engineering, will begin migrating faculty and staff email and workstations to University central services. Small groups within the SoE will be migrated each day. You will be notified in advance when your group is scheduled to move.

Email

Your email will be migrated from the SoE on-campus system to Microsoft Office 365, a cloud-hosted suite of communication and collaboration services. Your email will be temporarily unavailable while your mailbox is moved overnight. Mail will continue to be delivered during this outage, and none will be lost in the process.

After your mailbox has been successfully transitioned to Office 365, you will use your University email address (name@uconn.edu) on outgoing mail until all SoE groups have been migrated. Once everyone within the SoE has been transferred to Office 365, you may elect to resume sending mail from your @engr.uconn.edu address.

Workstation

Your workstation will be migrated at the same time as your email. After the migration, computer authentication will be serviced via the central UConn Active Directory, and you will login with your UConn NetID credentials. University-owned computers running Microsoft Windows will join the University’s Managed Workstation program.

Support

After your group’s migration is complete, desktop Outlook clients will automatically reconfigure, but mobile devices that receive email, IMAP email clients, and Apple Mail will need to be manually reconfigured. Technical support staff will be onsite each migration day to assist with problems and configure devices for new services.
