Network Migration – Engineering II (E2) Building ONLY

Dear SoE Faculty, Students, and Staff with offices in Engineering II (E2) ONLY,

Starting on Monday, February 27 and continuing for approximately a week, SoE and UITS technical staff will be reconfiguring the network for the EII building.

For many of you, these changes will not impact how you connect to the Internet. If you operate devices that fit the following categories, however, action may be required to avoid a service disruption. Please review the directions below:

Statically configured devices – If you self-reported a statically configured device(s), you will be contacted by UITS Network Engineering to set up a DHCP reservation. DHCP is similar to static addresses in the sense that your address will not change; however it will be easier to manage centrally. Once you have a DHCP reservation, you will need to reconfigure your network settings for DHCP.

Network Printers – Printers connected to the SoE network may need to be reconfigured when the IP address changes. If you reported your printer, SoE IT will visit to reconfigure your computer(s) if needed.

Servers – UITS Network Engineering will contact you to schedule a time to cut-over your server onto the new SoE server network. UITS Information Security will follow-up to help configure firewall policies for these devices.
