End of Legacy Mail Service

Good afternoon,

School of Engineering mail service has been migrated to Office 365, and we are now in the final stages of cleaning up the legacy mail server.

On October 28, 2016 all remaining mailboxes on the legacy server will be removed. There will be no interruption of service for users who have already migrated. If you have not received an email stating that your mailbox is being removed, then your mail will not be affected.

There are approximately 170 users who will be impacted – these users have received an email alerting them to this change and informing them of their options. There are three situations for these users, and each received a situation-specific notification email. These groups are:

  1. Users with active UConn mailboxes – mail will be automatically transferred to the UConn mailbox and future incoming mail will be forwarded.
  2. Former UConn students – mail may be transferred manually to a personal email account, future incoming mail will bounce. Alumni may request Email for Life.
  3. Former Faculty & Staff with no UConn mailboxes – mailbox will be removed, future incoming mail will bounce. Anyone who receives this notice and is still affiliated with UConn should contact the Help Desk as soon as possible, before October 28th.

Once this phase is complete, we can move forward with the return of branded email. The process is currently being documented and tested, and will be detailed for SoE users in a future communication.

For more information about the SoE migration, please see our migration website. If you have any questions, please contact our Help Desk at soehelp@uconn.edu or (860) 486-1821.
